Owned by PetroChina, PetroChina International Exploration & Development Company (“PetroChina International”) handles PetroChina’s overseas oil and gas exploration and development, refining and chemicals, and pipeline operation businesses. PetroChina currently manages and operates 91 oil and gas projects in 35 countries around the world. It has built five overseas oil and gas cooperation zones in Africa, Central Asia, South America, the Middle East and Asia Pacific, forming an integrated oil industry chain covering upstream and downstream operations such as exploration and development, pipeline transportation, refining and chemicals, and sales. In 2017, new overseas oil and gas recoverable reserves totaled 90.93 million tons, including 62.8 million tons of crude oil and 35.3 billion cubic meters of natural gas. PetroChina International has nearly 38,000 Chinese and foreign employees engaged in its overseas businesses it has invested in.

Quickly set up HSE system to strengthen personnel’s security management overseas
In early 2018, PetroChina International chose Kingdee’s new-generation platform, Kingdee Cloud Cosmic, as the technology platform through which to build an overseas community security information network platform. It monitors the safety of its overseas employees by building an HSE system. When in danger, overseas employees can call for help via the HSE system at the touch of a button, sending feedback information necessary for rescue (location, photos, sound and videos, etc.). The system can issue prompt warnings of risks that may cause injury. By monitoring the safety of its overseas personnel on a real-time basis using both technological and management tools, PetroChina International hopes to ensure the protection and safety of life and property of overseas personnel, and reduce unnecessary losses for the company.
To ensure employee safety, the technology platform needs to have high-availability and high-concurrency capabilities, positioning it to ensure around-the-clock services that all employees can simultaneously access, and prompt message delivery when risks arise.
Compared with traditional enterprise application technology architecture, Kingdee Cloud Cosmic’s technological architecture adopts a mainstream distributed-architecture design, and completely abandons the traditional ERP model with single database and single application server. It has re-designed all the services and nodes using distributed technology, and adopts distributed infrastructure and application-service architecture featuring micro-services. With the help of APM and an automated operation and maintenance system, the entire infrastructure features high scalability. The platform can maintain normal operation even if there is a malfunction at a single point, thus improving the system’s excellent availability capabilities.
By leveraging Kingdee’s extensive experience in developing platforms gained over the past 20 years and adopting core technologies such as dynamic domain models, Kingdee Cloud Cosmic builds cloud application service platforms to provide support services and management tools for the development, deployment, operation and management of application services (SaaS). It features sufficient flexibility to support companies in carrying out personalized business. It supports online development, visualized configuration and one-click deployment without construction, thus substantially improving development efficiency. The platform is flexible and open, provides access to third-party map service Dituyi, and supports the development of system map applications.
Short development cycle, easy to learn and use, high scalability
Another problem faced by PetroChina International was that there was no standard product on the market it could refer to. All of the available applications needed to be customized. Due to its pressing need to launch the project, the development cycle of the platform needed to be short, and the platform needed to be easy to learn and use and have high scalability.
